As a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Health & Human Services Section of the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, I represent the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, Ohio Department of Medicaid, and Ohio Board of Nursing in administrative hearings and litigation in state and federal court.Previously, as Deputy Director of Outside Counsel, I engaged, retained, and oversaw private-sector attorneys appointed as Special Counsel by the Attorney General to provide legal representation to State entities, including agencies, boards, commissions, departments, colleges, universities, and retirement systems, for non-collections matters. I have also represented state agencies and statewide officeholders and their employees in both state and federal court, including the Attorney General, the Auditor of State, the courts of appeals, the Department of Rehabilitation & Correction, the Department of Youth Services, the Elections Commission, the Governor, the General Assembly, the Legislative Service Commission, and the Secretary of State. I have also criminally prosecuted Medicaid-provider fraud cases in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and defended the State of Ohio in wrongful-imprisonment actions. I have litigated in the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio and occasionally in the Sixth Circuit in constitutional cases and appeals brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983, as well as in various Ohio courts of common pleas, Ohio courts of appeal, and the Supreme Court of Ohio in original and declaratory-judgment actions and their appeals. I also have limited experience with federal habeas cases and with actions in the Ohio Court of Claims, including public-records actions.I am licensed to appear in all state courts in Ohio as well as admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. I am also a notary public for the State of Ohio.
