Helped run a pretty rad circus camp, idea was to empower young folk through circus arts. Got to learn a lot of neat circus skills while coming up with programming and exploring the idea of developing life skills through play. Each week, students would choose a circus art to practice; at the end of each week, we would have a full show for all the families of the participants, in which each camper always had a role. I still occasionally do single events with this group, actually.

- Teaching chess to children from junior kindergarten to grade 3 at a number of schools across Toronto- Using a well-tested and carefully developed curriculum, the aim is to use chess to develop life skills in students by relating aspects of the game to situations in their own lives- Running lunch programs, after-school programs, TDSB curriculum classes, tournaments and camps, both individually and with other instructors. - Classes are generally between 6 and 20 students

- Assisted in editing and improving materials and assignments used in a program designed to improve the mathematical skill of teachers in the Winnipeg public school board- Assisted teachers in Winnipeg (via e-mail and skype) with math-related material and pedagogy- Graded assignments submitted by teachers in Winnipeg, and compiled reports on their progress- Delivered lessons, managed the classroom, assigned and graded homework and tests, answered student e-mails- Wrote school-wide exams for grades 9 and 10- Organized and led extra help sessions- Kept in contact with parents via phone calls, e-mails and report cards.- Created and improved lesson plans- Helped train and supervise new teachers and assistant teachers- Worked with other teachers to improve the curriculum - Assisted with extra-curricular activities, such as chess tournaments, summer camps and contests- Promoted the school through advertising campaigns, including visits to public schools and promotional lessons - As a member of the social committee, organized and helped run staff parties and events (and, with the aid of several pillows, portrayed Santa Claus at the Christmas party)-

- Working with the Boys and Girls Club, am currently running evening math classes for students struggling in the subject- Teaching classes of 2-6 students, offering targeted assistance based on each child's needs. - Currently running 4 hour-long classes a week: one for grades 1-2, one for 3-4, one for 5-6, and one for 7-8.- Solely responsible for all programming, materials, etc.- So far, the program has received very favourable reviews from parents and students, and numbers have increased steadily throughout

- Provide after-school homework help at a variety of elementary schools in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club's program. - Am responsible for supervising between 1 and 45 children, sometimes alone, sometimes with assistance from another staff member- Assist students of ages 4-12 with whatever homework they may have and provide a safe, quiet space for them to pursue their own interests- Provide supplementary material for those who wish to use the homework room, but are unsure what they want to work on

- As homeroom teacher, was responsible for the personal and academic development of 14 grade 6 students- Helped students develop their English-language abilities through an integrated ESL program- Helped streamline the curriculum by comparing Japanese and American core material by grade. Created combined courses in mathematics and science meant to ensure that all graduates from Amerasian School would be prepared to enter high school in either America or Japan- Created and led several clubs and extracurriculars, including Math Club, Writing Club, and Games Club- Organized several successful field trips- Created and taught a summer school curriculum for students from various schools throughout the community- Worked with students to revitalize student council and improve communication between students and administration- Organized a festival to help spread awareness about the school throughout the community- Acted as translator between English-speaking and Japanese-speaking staff/students- Assisted in the training of new teachers
