• Developing a systematic method of optimizing refactored gene clusters using multivariable experimental design
• Synthesized different variations of the refactored nitrogenase gene cluster and transformed them into E.coli
• Measured activity of each gene cluster and conducted a Plackett-Burman (PB) design to identify which genes in the cluster the pathway’s activity is most sensitive to

• Characterized synthetic genetic parts, received from the Voigt Lab, to use for constructing the pathway
