Doctoral student trained in x-ray imaging with specific interest in spectroscopic photon-counting detectors and phase contrast imaging. My core project included experimental and Monte Carlo investigations to characterize the spatial and spectral behavior of scattered x-rays and their detrimental impact to quantitative imaging. With this knowledge, I developed energy-sensitive scatter suppression techniques which modeled this behavior for quantitative restoration of the spectroscopic images. Additional accomplishments include instrumentation development of a prototype spectroscopic CT system and a coded-aperture phase contrast x-ray imaging system. I also have significant experience presenting results to colleagues and fellow researchers at scientific conferences.

Lab instructor for STEM and physics degree-seeking students. Specific courses include: General Physics I & II and Advanced Undergraduate Experimental Physics. Responsibilities included effective laboratory demonstrations of basic physical principles and encouraging student curiosity for an improved learning environment.

Researched utilization of nano-materials for the development of biosensors and drug delivery. Developed a novel screening technique of functional compounds for protein imprinting. Performed molecular dynamic calculations using AutoDock.

Provided assistance during the Astronomy Summer School of East Texas (ASSET) workshop for Texas public school science teachers. Evaluated the effectiveness of the workshop by analyzing the content knowledge gains achieved by the attendees over the two-week program. Presented the results to colleagues and fellow researchers at scientific conferences.

Performed Ni doping of LiFePO4 cathode material in dry air. Analyzed experimental data pertaining to Ti doping of MgB2 superconducting wires.
