Fill in for Elevator Manager when he is gone. Helping with mill upgrades and additions. Spent a year Shift Milling in rotation producing white flour, whole wheat flours, rye flours, rye meals, and steel cut products. Gained experience in the Maintenance and PLW departments as well. Spent some time bouncing between departments depending on where I am needed.

Indiantown, Florida

Worked as a Shift Miller and Assistant Miller. Spent time in Elevator and QA departments. Completed a Six Sigma Green Belt project that cleaned up the alarm system and mitigated down time due to false alarms. Drew fire escape routes for all doors on the facility.

Manhattan, Kansas

Became skilled in the operation of the Hal Ross flour mill, milling mostly HRW. Assisted with mill runs for IGP short courses. Contributed to a USDA project by mixing batches of food relief product and packing it out. Cleaned, Tempered, and milled test plots of wheat, 250-350lbs, on a Miag test mill for the Wheat Quality Commisson. General maintenace of.

Crete, Nebraska

Spent some time in the lab. Managed sweeping crew, led toolbox talks, and assigned cleaning duties. Learned milling practices for white, yellow, and organic corn as well as processing quinoa, millet, sorghum and other ancient grains. Helped out with Safety Days at the Crete, NE and Atchison, KS locations. Contributed to Arepa flour trial runs.

Saint Ansgar, Iowa

Involved in a destoner upgrade project. Learned how to grade oats. Spent a couple weeks in the lab. Learned Oat, Barley, Rye, Wheat, and multile specialty grains milling processes. Drew up flow sheets for all mills on sight and transfer lines. Completed a study to check how much breakage occured in the conveying of flaked oats.

Excelsior Springs, Missouri

Basic mill maintenance and operation. Trackmobile operation and unload grain cars. Durum wheat milling for semolina and whole wheat semolina. Loading feed and flour trucks. Created shift-checklist for shadowboards on each floor. Confined space bin cleaning training. Created a Ladder Audit/Inspection program. Introduced to Lean. Made a Safety Hallway.
