Vivent is a Swiss based pioneer in the field of bio-signals and electroceuticals. Vivent is currently developing and marketing the PhytlSigns range of instruments and devices that measure electrical signals emitted by plants with the goal of increasing plant quality and yields. We are also conducting research into electrical signalling within the human body.Responsible for:- End-to-end systems architecture.- Managing and providing direction to hardware and software developers.- Intellectual property management.- Machine Learning modelling for early detection of adverse plant conditions.

I began collaborating with Nigel Wallbridge and Carrol Plummer after being intrigued by their ideas concerning the possibility of as yet undiscovered signalling methods and pathways within living organisms.Highlights:- Research going beyond current state-of-the-art digital signal processing & analysis methods.- Finding talented individuals to include in the research team.- Applying for patents.

Working with the CAA, the MoD and Network Rail, we developed a purpose-built gigabit trackside LTE network and trainborne communications platform.

My responsibilities associated with management of intellectual property increased as the company grew. In order to focus more of my time on new inventions, I handed the reins of Chief Technology Officer over to Nick Barker in March of 2012.Highlights:- Identification, evaluation and patenting of IP arising from company acquisitions, formation of joint venture companies and internal innovation within the Nomad group of companies.- Assessment of intellectual properties owned by other companies.- I continued to make personal contributions to Nomad's patent portfolio through a number of my own new inventions.

Nomad is a train communications technology pioneer. I was involved with Nomad since its beginning in 2002 when changes to Ofcom regulations provided an opportunity to launch one of the earliest Wi-Fi hotspot roll-outs in the UK. My initial role was to manufacture Wi-Fi hotspot equipment, design & create continent spanning e-commerce servers and integrate the entire end-to-end system.In 2004 I invented the first of Nomad's core technologies, a network communication system referred to as GLIDER which allows seamless handover and load distribution across multiple wireless networks. The first GLIDER system went into service in October 2004 on board Southern train 377321 which traveled between London and Brighton. The first television coverage of the GLIDER system was broadcast by BBC News on 17 February 2005.In 2006 I moved from Canada to the UK and co-founded Nomad Holdings Ltd. (Nomad Digital's parent company) with Graeme Lowdon and Nigel Wallbridge following a private equity investment of £8 million (CAD $20 million).Highlights:- Working with a team of highly skilled and talented engineers, I developed my ideas, concepts and inventions into commercial products.- I was directly involved with on-site deployment of both pre-commercial and commercial GLIDER systems throughout the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, China, Japan and India.

Pathcom was originally a satellite technology & services company which owned both a satellite teleport and a 300ft communications tower. I joined Pathcom in August 2000 and began building the hugely successful wireless internet service division, i-Path. In August 2007, the i-Path division was acquired by Barret Xplornet for CAD $5 million.Highlights:- I was the technical architect of the i-Path network which provided wireless broadband services to schools, businesses & residential customers in rural areas outside of Calgary.- In addition my duties as Chief Technology Officer, I was also responsible for the development of i-Path sales & marketing strategies and media relations.- In 2004, I strategically purchased 3.5GHz spectrum licenses covering approximately 1.5 million square miles of western and northern Canada.

YK Wireless was a small (3 people including myself) startup company offering business & residential wireless broadband service in Yellowknife.The company was acquired by a subsidiary of MicroAge Computers in August 2000.

CBA Ltd. was a geological & geophysical consulting company based in Yellowknife, NWT. CBA Ltd. merged with Amerok Geophysics in 2000 and is currently called Aurora Geosciences.I began work at CBA Ltd. as a computer programmer; writing programs to process geophysical data. I also spent some time as an AutoCAD draftsman, digitizing topographic maps and adding geological features.During my time with CBA, the balance of my duties shifted from programming, drafting & geophysics to managing servers and computer networks.
