I'm responsible for the backend architecture and ensuring it delivers the features necessary to achieve our user experience goals. Projects include: * Designing and implementing the main product API, DB, and bulk storage facility including features for flexible access control, stateful resources, tasks, and user masquerading* Enabling effective support and system introspection through the creation of operational tooling for our backend* Championing testing and test infrastructure by establishing a blackbox test suite that validates our API meet our user stories

* Designed and implemented API endpoints for our primary data offerings with an emphasis on usability, consistency, and operational ease. * Developed a Go based API generator enabling rapid developement of new APIs from OpenAPI specifications.

As a member of the strategy software engineering team I participated in a number of efforts designed to have strategic impact on our mission. Projects included: * Planning and leading the development team for the multi-tenant gateway project (now known as Edge) which enabled the Storj-hosted S3-compatible API service* Extending rclone, a popular cloud storage tool, with native support for the Storj network

I lead a cross-functional team of developers, testers, and DevOps engineers responsible for the operation, maintenance, and feature enhancement of Pindrop’s primary web service. Projects included:* Migration from bare metal to Docker and Kubernetes enabling the full team to participate in application support and deployment. This significantly improved our support and on-call load.* The next generation of the API enabling modernization and flexibility in the back-end services.* Implementation of non-audio models from research specifications with an emphasis on scaling and SLAs.* A data lake for use by research to explore and train models. The unified storage and collection pipeline accelerated research development of novel models while reducing the team’s support burden.* Collaboration with research to create clear API contracts and a CI/CD pipeline for deploying their models. This enabled research to confidently build, deploy, and update models to production in a fully automated way.

As the technical lead for the DevOps team I led the design and implementation of our internal Cloud Control website. The website utilizes a flexible architecture for gathering, relating, and indexing data provided by different cloud infrastructures. Since the release of the website, employees are able to quickly search for relevant cloud resources and easily relate them to a customer. I was the primary author of several key services the site relies on including an authentication proxy, a user management service, and an indexing service. Additional responsibilities: * Led the design and implementation of CLI tools for the operations team.* Provided production support for the ECS cloud provisioning system.

Design, build and support tools for the operation and administration of the TSYS Prepaid and Loyalty platforms. Provide on-call support to our 24/7 production environments. * Designed and implemented a release and configuration management system radically improving our ability to rapidly deploy entire platforms including their system dependent configuration.

Improved SELinux management through innovative language and tool design. Analyzed security goals and system configurations providing consultation to customers with sensitive installations. Supported Ubuntu SELinux integration with updated installation packages and security policy. * Designed the SELinux Common Intermediary Language and next generation policy management infrastructure addressing security policy scalability within large enterprises.* Evaluated File Context Globing with a proof of concept Python implementation determining the feasibility of deterministic security labeling of system files.* Provided security consultation in support of the High Assurance Platform. * Taught classes preparing security analysts and systems engineers to be effective at understanding and securing mandatory access control systems.
