Text information is extracted using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technologies, and AiDA’s postprocessing logic is applied to organize the extracted text into a structured format. Four projects were assigned during the internship to allow the intern to explore and understand the system and provide enhancements using latest technologies.Three of the projects were developing a web scraping tool to provide AiDA with a live lookup source of online medical information, exploring Camelot as a table extraction tool, and exploring the differences between the architectural styles for building Application Programming Interfaces (API), namely Google Remote Procedure Call (gRPC) and Representational State Transfer (REST). The fourth and most significant project was making product-level enhancements to AiDA’s OCR engine that processes bank statements.In addition to these projects, interns were also assigned document checking tasks to assist the senior developers in fine tuning the OCR engine. I assisted my family's online business by identifying popular products and recommending them to be marketed. I have also learnt how to price the products reasonably in order for the business to be profitable. Additionally, i also made some simple designs for mugs and t-shirts.
