For nearly five years, I served as the Sr. Director of Communications and Marketing where I promoted Kansas as a great place to live, work and play. As the state’s lead economic development agency, I greatly enjoyed working with businesses and communities throughout the state to promote business, trade, workforce and community development, as well as tourism.I concluded my career in state government serving as the Deputy Secretary of Commerce and leading the state’s workforce system. During this time I realized the solution for many complex problems was often simple - bring the right people together around a common goal and foster it with open and honest communication. Our team worked to redefine the workforce system in Kansas by collaborating with federal, state and local governments, and grew new partnerships with Kansas companies, the Board of Regents’ Technical Education Authority and the Department of Education.After a brief time in the private sector, I realized there is nothing more fulfilling than supporting the success of small businesses and communities.
