Design, develop, and build ISS payload interface hardware and design and build IVA and EVA payloads for customers. Responsible for full system design and integration of hardware including power supplies, power distribution and control sub systems, current limiters and circuit protection, USB hubs, micro-controller systems, integrated sensor systems, C&DH systems, camera interfaces, and fault monitoring and reporting systems. Mixed signal and high speed PCB layouts. Ensure payload radiation tolerance through a combination of using radiation tolerant components, vaulting of sensitive components, and using TMR design strategies. Operate payloads and trouble shoot hardware installed in the ISS from our operations center in Webster, TX. Conduct payload compatibility testing and design and build EMI filters to suppress EMI exceedances found during testing. Work as a company representative to negotiate safety, verification, and testing requirements for customer hardware with NASA. Write battery testing procedures to ensure battery powered payloads comply with NASA standards for battery safety. Create schematics; write test reports, hardware assembly instructions, test and operation procedures; and document hardware development from initial requirements to hardware handover.
