Current: Today I am in WestRock's Preprint division which creates flexographic preprint for our corrugate converting facilities. In this role, it is my responsibility to handle the file prep review and coordination of the new item process from submission of project to press date; communicating with prepress, customers, sales, customer service, accounting and production to ensure production success and full customer satisfaction. Previous Career with WestRock:Previously at WestRock I was working as an Early Career Development Associate. This program allowed me the flexibility to learn about and participate in a variety of areas in the paper and packaging industry. I started my career in Hendersonville, NC at a folding carton facility where I was able to work with and learn from so many talented people. I worked in Continuous Improvement (CI) and Quality Assurance (QA) during my time in Hendersonville. In CI, I worked on several projects that helped save the plant time and money. In the Quality Department, I learned a lot about document control and resolving customer complaints. I then rotated to a Merchandise and Display facility in Chattanooga, TN. While in Chattanooga, I spent time with prepress and printing with the goal of expanding my knowledge of printing in a commercial setting. I also spent time in the ink room and learned how to match litho inks. The majority of my time was spent with the Project Managers who communicate directly with customers as well as enter job tickets and own each project from start to finish. This really prepared me for my next opportunity as a project manager in the preprint division within WestRock.Before Graduating:The print industry has surrounded me for my whole life because my father owned a small print company in Clemson.My fascination with Flexo stems from the amount of technical knowledge and problem-solving needed to create designs, plates, and print. I am also drawn to the diversity of substrates that you can print on and how each substrate brings a new challenge and problem to solve. My interest in Digital Print comes from my excitement for the future of print. Every year, new digital print technology is released, and the possibilities for digital print keep expanding. As new technology emerges, the tradeoff of speed and cost gets smaller and smaller.
