I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a BS in Computer Science, a minor in psychology, and a secondary education certification. My desire to learn continues to drive me to pursue a Masters in Educational Technology, also at GVSU. I have taught high school classes in computers, online classes, serviced and maintained equipment and/or provided IT support over the past five years at the DREAM academy and in Hamilton - responding to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically.When assisting someone with their computer, I consider this an opportunity to instruct the individual in a way that helps them understand technology better. My experiences have shown many people are easily frustrated, angered and embarrassed about technology questions. My mission is to provide technical expertise, in a calm professional manner. Clients often feel like they should “know” a fix to a problem and are embarrassed to need assistance for what may be a “small request.” I believe it is my job to allow the client to be comfortable asking questions, getting answers and asking for follow up advice.
