At the Geodis (SBUX) warehouse I work as an EPJ driver that picks products in aisles and put them on a pallet, I then restack if I have to and tightly wrap the pallet to ensure nothing moves. I usually get about 20 pallets done a night and exceed my score I am tracked by. I like it but I work very hard and move very quick and efficient but never get to a score high enough to be eligible for a raise, so I would be stuck at that pay until I could get a perfect score for a week, so I want to expand my options and I am hoping to find a warehouse more promising, as well as looking at driving a forklift.

At Subway I made sandwiches primarily, but I cleaned up around the kitchen, dining area, and prep the food in the kitchen as well. I worked from 10 to 4 and usually was either prepping the food into containers, making sandwiches in the front or cleaning up the area. It was an experience of something new but short lived.

As a farm hand I was mostly an assistant to any farm chores or jobs being done. I helped loading and unloading corn on hopper trailers. I helped load and unload pigs as well, including organizing the pigs into the hog barn. I helped cultivate and spread manure, and helped spray the fields. I often cleaned trucks and tractors and helped grease and fix them up. There were other jobs as well like keeping the farm clean and the shop. It was a good experience but I wasn’t being paid for the work, after I left the farm to look for a better paying job.

As an apprentice for another electrical company I worked on roughs and finals, wired houses, put up fans, fixtures, wired plugs and outlets, ran home runs through the attic, and all kinds of other stuff. The only thing I didn’t do was wiring panels only because it was above apprentice level, but I learned a lot and it was definitely an experience I’ll never forget.
