Through this, I grew in my understanding of important interpersonal skills such as communication, empathy, approachability, showing respect, and active listening. Most importantly, I learned how having a positive attitude in everything I did greatly increased the overall satisfaction of not only myself but in the people around me.Eventually, I moved to Chicago to become a live-in student (uchi-deshi) for the Aikido Association International. My main responsibility was to train and integrate myself into Japanese martial and cultural arts. During my time as a live-in student, I learned the precious skills of time-management, priority setting, and open communication. Through rigorous training, I also learned what I can accomplish through perseverance and tenacity. Moreover, during this time in my life, I was able to meet many wonderful people, which ultimately led to my introduction to ServiceNow. Today, I leverage my past experiences as a clinical counselor and an uchi-deshi to not only drive my passion as an engineer, but also through my interpersonal relationships with my clients.
