AEI's poverty studies program seeks to identify and promote policies to improve opportunities for low-income Americans. Poverty studies scholars analyze federal safety-net programs such as cash welfare, food assistance, and unemployment insurance. Scholars also study determinates of economic mobility and human flourishing, seeking to understand how core institutions such as work, family, faith, and community shape Americans' lives. Internship duties include research tasks such as retrieving and analyzing data, assisting with data visualization projects, helping organize conferences and seminars, providing background research for reports and scholarly publications, and helping with some administrative tasks.
