While attending high school, I worked with a fellow classmate at a local furniture store delivering mattresses and other pieces directly to the homes of our customers upon request. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on active duty in early 2011, but I did not leave for basic training until November of 2011. I went through basic training and infantry training at MCRD San Diego, California. It was during the infantry portion of my training when I became a mortarman. I was then stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina after my training was complete. During my 4 years in the Marine Corps I remained proficient with the knowledge and use of the M252 81mm Mortar System and M4 Carbine. I have used both of these weapons on well over 40 ranges as well as supervised others as a safety officer on live fire ranges. I am CBRN certified, and I was licensed to drive a MATV, MRAP, and HMMWV. I have two deployments under my belt. My first deployment was a UDP to Japan which was 7 months long. We mostly trained in Camp Schwab, Okinawa, but we also stayed at Camp Fuji, Japan to conduct live fire training with mortars for a month. The second deployment was a MEU through the Mediterranean. Our platoon was specially trained to be TRAP certified for this deployment. We conducted many drills and live fire ranges while aboard the ship and in the countries of Djibouti and UAE. That deployment was about 7 months as well. With the training the Marine Corps gave me, I have the enthusiasm and motivation to lead others and the drive to complete any task at hand.
