Working in physics is much different that the general population perceives it to be. In the past 7 years of physics education I've picked up skills in both oral and written communication, managing projects, working with collaborators, and designing hardware. Presentations to the public from age 10 and up have provided me practice with conveying complex ideas in concise and understandable formats. Throughout my Masters and PhD I had the opportunity to design my own projects, including implementing a long term chemically exposed acrylic monitoring program. Through my program I was able to model expected fracture rates and set risk levels for the project I was part of. In addition to providing critical research, I am heavily involved in working with younger students in various situations. This has involved one on one tutoring for brief sessions, where students would ask questions on a variety of topics and I had to be prepared to answer them without prior knowledge of the nature of the questions. I have also setup and mentored students through laboratory experiments for 3 years. Finally I have had experience leading undergraduate students on their own research projects during summer breaks as well as working with them on joint projects.
