During this time, I oversaw materials testing, pavement strength testing, cement stabilising, seal repairs, pothole repairs, and pavement quality assurance. In January 2022, I finished working on Transmission Gully and moved into the earthworks, drainage and utilities team on the Manawatū Gorge Highway (Palmerston North). I oversaw the relocation of the wind farm's high-voltage cables and the construction of the surrounding access tracks. I also oversaw several large culvert installations, with a highlight being a 2.5m high 60m long triple barrel box culvert. As of January 2023, I moved to the Southern Civil team where I worked on the maintenance contract at Lyttelton Port (LPC). While there I managed several crews inside the container terminal that installed high-voltage cables, upgraded drainage systems and constructed full-depth pavement repairs/replacements. Show less

While working in the earthworks team my primary duties included tracking the batter stabilisation progress in the cuts, sourcing and pricing the lighting for night works, completing fill material deflection tests, checking sub-contractor invoices, updating drawings and using 3D software to create site haul road maps. I worked with the team at 'Hutchinson Consulting Engineers' over the summer, following, my, first year at university. Primarily, I worked alongside the civil and geotechnical engineering team. I was taught how to hand-auger boreholes, complete shear vane and scala penetrometer tests, create catchment plans, fill out producer statements and how to use AutoCAD.

I began working as a casual employee and then moved on to have a permanent part-time shift through my final years of high school. While with 'The Warehouse', I was trained in customer service, checkout, shop floor, entertainment and the stockyard.
