My primary responsibility is to technically support Pro-face and Schneider HMI and IPC pre-sale and post-sale efforts at key accounts, target conversion accounts, projects and new market opportunities. To do this, I work closely with customer engineering teams to develop specific solutions and proof-of-concepts.Other responsibilities include:• Act as a local focal point for all communications between vendor partner technical resources and internal marketing on automation products and software, and as a technical resource for the customer and sales personnel. • Actively promote automation participation at local trade shows, customer seminars, and other local branch promotions as a way to increase customer awareness of automation and control product capabilities. • Teach training classes on how to use Pro-face and Schneider HMI software: GP-Pro EX and Pro-Server, and Vijeo Designer.Territory: IN, KY, TN, GA, AL, MS, MO, FL

As a technical support engineer, I provided highly technical assistance to both Schneider’s Application Engineers in the field as well as customers needing technical assistance with anything involving ION or PowerLogic meters or communication to trip units anywhere in North America. This job required expert level knowledge of Schneider’s Power Management Expert software, knowledge of how to troubleshoot problems arising when one uses these power meters, program meters’ framework, troubleshooting and rebuilding SQL Databases, provide IT assistance, etc. Normally stationed in an office, my team was expected to be fully qualified application engineers – able to travel and provide on-site assistance, which did happen, but with enough knowledge of the product to be able to resolve highly technical problems over phone, email or by a remote WebEx session in most cases.

I was part of the Cognex Logistics Services team startup and was responsible to provide turn-key vision based barcode reading systems nationwide. Our team was responsible to design to logistics applications in our lab, make professional drawings in SolidWorks, travel to the customer site, assemble any 80/20 aluminum frame designed to support the readers, install the readers, configure and program the readers using java script or perl, set up all communications and integrate our system with existing systems, troubleshoot any problems that arose—often helping the customer troubleshoot their system—and demonstrate a fully operational system before leaving the site. Working with other members of our engineering team or alone, depending on the job size, we consistently went above and beyond to meet our customer’s requests. As our installation team was small, communication, and teamwork was absolutely essential in order to keep up with our aggressive schedule.In addition to helping in the design of logistic applications when at the office, I also designed machine vision applications as part of the pre-sale process to determine whether a customer's requested was achievable and, if so, determine what hardware/programming was required. Machine vision applications I worked on included part inspection, line scan, guide/aligning, gauge/measure, presence/absence, and OCR/OCV. To provide solutions, I had at my disposal external lighting of different colors, backdrops, field-of-view expanders, assorted lenses, etc.

I assisted in troubleshooting, diagnosing and correcting/giving instructions on how to correct mechanical and electrical failures that occur on production lines on the shop floor. These failures might include: faulty drives and motors, sequencing issues, wiring issues, failed circuit boards, bad or incorrectly taught sensors, flawed PLC code (RSLogix 5, 5000), Robot failures, Vision systems, and many others encountered in a production facility.

I was part of a three person team of engineering students working on a two semester long project. The project, “Metering Security Design using Rolling Code,” was sponsored by Schneider Electric of North America and was intended to meet the rising need for Schneider to limit access to their power meters’ configuration control. Another team member and myself worked closely together to write the driver for RF input with read/write serial number and hop counter to flash memory, then implementing the KeeLoq encryption algorithm in C. Our code was then downloaded to an STM32F4 microcontroller. When demonstrated the project to faculty and our sponsors, our device would properly grant or deny authorized access after receiving an entry request from a 433MHz RF signal.

My primary responsibility was to assist in the design and development of a new production line—a project budgeted for $750,000—that was part of a larger assembly system producing side windows for Ford automobiles. I wrote and debugging PLC code and HMI programs, as well as aiding electricians in troubleshooting wiring issues. I would also accompany engineers when debugging system faults in robots or PLCs on the shop floor.
