Senior Product Development Engineer
CurrentAs a Senior engineer my responsibilities include teaching the next generation of junior engineers about manufacturing, design principals for assembly, best practices for CAD, and reviewing and correcting engineering procedures and prints. I currently am design lead on a development project seeking to replace the seats in an existing airframe with new seats targeting vibration reduction and reduction of fatigue for enhanced mission awareness in high stress situations. The seats must meet various lifetime environmental requirement, MIL standards, ANTHRO requirements, high stress no-yield landing conditions, high stress crash conditions, and use of mechanical logic to protect the airframe from inadvertent damage.Use of CAD and mechanical conceptualization skills to develop novel solutions to existing problems requiring mechanical solutions, and use of end user feedback to advocate new design requirementsApply design principals from manufacturing knowledge for DFM, best assembly practices, and GD&T to reduce manufacturing costs and improve assembly processes reducing overall cost of products as well as maintenance cost for customerDetail drafting of CAD components for manufacturing and review of drawings from peers.Stress analysis on SW non-linear of parts for weight optimization on both component and system level. Analysis includes fatigue, buckling, high load non-yield and high-load yielding without ultimate failure. Oversight of analysis on ANSYS.Material selection for galvanic corrosion prevention and system longevity.Technical documentation for test planning, installation procedures, brochures, maintenance manuals, meeting PowerPoints, work instructions, and proposal efforts.Hands on building of prototype and testing processes
