• Represented the County and advised various County Officials and Departments as a member of the Litigation Division of the Department of the Corporation Counsel for the County of Maui.• Acted as the lead litigation attorney on Water Resources, Elections, Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment, Bankruptcy, Procurement and Claims Management.• Represented the County of Maui before the Hawaii Supreme Court, the Intermediate Court of Appeals, the First and Second Circuit Courts for the State of Hawaii, the Board of Land and Natural Resources, the Commission on Water Resources Management, the Labor Industrial Relations Appeals Board, the Employment Security Appeals Referee’s Office and the Disability Compensation Division.

Wailuku, Hi 08/10 – 08/11* Conducted research, reviewed filings and briefed the judge on all Motions for Summary Judgment, Motions to Dismiss, and Administrative Appeals.* Assisted the judge by preparing jury instructions, acting as bailiff during jury trials and setting trial dates.

Conducted legal research and prepared memoranda for partners on a variety of legal issues, including construction law, insurance subrogation, the Fair Housing Act, administrative procedure, trusteeships and legislative history.* Prepared client correspondence regarding the 2009 state legislative session and the Waipahu Neighborhood Plan.

* Assisted the Deputy Prosecutor for Appeals in filing answers and briefs on appealed convictions.* Conducted research and prepared answers and memoranda for other deputies on a variety of legal issues.

Organized the Project on Government Oversight’s (POGO) monthly Congressional Oversight Training seminars to coach congressional staff on various aspects of executive branch and business oversight.* Contributed to the development of “The Art of Congressional Oversight” for distribution to Members of Congress and their staffs which was published in July of 2009.
