My name is Caleb Rushing and I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina having completed my degrees in English and Global Cinema in May of 2019. Over the course of my four years, I was privileged to learn so much about myself and the type of impact I want to make on the world. I talked to professors, students, and local Chapel Hillians, and whether our conversations were two minutes long or two hours, my perspective began to change and I hope theirs did as well. Right now I am eager to learn and engage with my newfound community of both young and experienced professionals. I feel as though I am brimming with potential and possibility. I know that I have the tools to create and grow, I just need to find the perfect position in which I can thrive, get my hands dirty, and make an impact. Great storytelling gives voice to new perspectives and introduces an audience to new worlds of creativity. It inspires and uplifts by communicating meaningful experiences. Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and completing my minor in Global Cinema have allowed me to discuss and analyze different filmmaking styles and principles. I have learned how to interpret film and literature and identify the ways that these media accentuate storytelling. While writing for General College, a television show produced by UNC Student Television, I have written scripts, assisted in film production, and attended student-lead writing workshops. Each and every time I read a screenplay or write my own, I watch a film or daydream about myself behind the camera, I am reminded of the ways design can help communicate an idea and how cinema eats away at the boundaries of realism and opens up the mind to new possibilities.
