Project Officer (Community)
I am responsible for supporting community projects and clubs to engage people in physical activity and sporting opportunities within their local areas.
Student Performance Manager
As the Student Performance Manager, I am responsible for supporting around 80 students to help them achieve the best possible grade they can as well as supporting them outside of college. My position is in place to essentially be the first port of call within multiple areas such as: Educationally, to ensure students are on track to meet their target grade. Examples include setting targets and motivating to complete assignments on time and to a high standard; Pastorally, to help deal with any issues that students are facing albeit personal or academic. This has included supporting students through pregnancy, bereavement and career opportunities; Monitoring, by constantly checking student performance and updating monitoring services and programmes. This involves carrying out and noting behaviour interventions and processes relating to course aspects such as work experience.Through lessons and 1-to-1 meetings I am helping students turn into young adults and preparing them for life after college whether that be into higher education or into the world of work. I primarily look after students within the sport and public services courses but very quickly into my time at the College I was given the responsibility of overseeing students within Health & Social Care.
Sport & Physical Activity Coordinator
Solely responsible for the University's recreational activity programme. This was aimed at providing all students opportunities to engage in non-competitive sport in a variety of options. The aim was to primarily target inactive students regardless of gender, age, background etc. I constantly used communication, research and data analysis to make informative decisions for the programme such as what activities to run based on feedback from students. The main duties of this position was to oversee a group of student volunteers, update social media and website advertisement, create and distribute promotional material as well as forecasting activities and contingencies for the academic year while maintaining a dedicated budget. I also supported the implementation of Open Days and Applicant Days which consisted of delivering presentations based on the sporting offer at the University while also offering personalised 1-to-1 information to applicants and their family. Furthermore, I was also appointed the Assistant Events Manager for Severn Stars Netball fixtures during my tenure which involved responsibilities such as being a key figure in setting up/down match days, organising ticket allocation, dealing with customer feedback and managing a group of student volunteers.
Operation Assistant
Overseeing the planning, preparation and execution of after school clubs and holiday camps including the provision of activities and child satisfaction. I was responsible for reorganising and restructuring theequipment used by after school clubs and holiday camps. I had the opportunity to recruit staff for clubs, camps and the Active Plus programme in which expert coaches were appointed to lead specialised sessions. Within this, staff inductions and quality control visits were completed to a high standard. I continually progressed standards with new ideas through the use of primary feedback to exceed the expectation for children and parents. I was the unofficial IT person to assist with software and printingissues as well the design of the new website and the creation of online forms.
Produce Assistant
Primarily working on the produce department. Serving customers in store and providing knowledge and advice on products. Communication and customer service skills were developed to guarantee the best shopping experience possible for the customer. I am also checkout trained to help when the checkouts have too many customers for available checkouts.
Student Ambassador
On University open days I share my experiences as a student to potential applicants while giving tours of the campus and the facilities that the University of Gloucestershire has to offer. Additionally for applicant days I spend the day talking to and helping students who have specifically applied for the Sport Coaching and Development course. My role is to effectively work with lecturers and fellow students to help the day run smoothly and effectively. Another potential role of student ambassador is to apply for the role of engaging in summer school. My role for this to look after and live with Year 10 students for a week to give them a taster of what university is like and what kind of courses they can take.
Camp Counsellor
My main role was to live with and look after the welfare of all campers. Challenges of this role was adapting to a new environment and overcoming language barriers. Additionally I instructed water-skiing, archery & canoe/kayak with other counsellors.
Sports Coach Apprentice
Working as a sports coach while attaining a level 3 BTEC. My coaching role included having weekly placements in primary schools to teach PE lessons across Oxfordshire, and host holiday courses during Easter and summer breaks.
