High School Mathematics Teacher
CurrentFacilitate learning in math courses, which includes: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2, and College level Liberal Arts Math to exceptional students with behavioral and emotional disorders, in addition to students with mental health.Utilizes online resources such as IXL, Imagine Math, Albert IO, Quizzizz, and Kahoot to enrich student learning and track data of their progress as it relates to the core curriculum. Utilizes DESMOS, a JavaScript programming application to graph linear, exponential, and quadratic functions and transformations in geometry.Conducts weather-related experiments by demonstrating the effects of centripetal force of water by generating a tornado in a bottle.Constructs math foldables to enrich student learning.Assess students' skills by adapting to scaffolding techniques and manipulatives to meet their educational needs.Provides progress reports and set goals for each students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).Monitors and redirects each students' behaviors with intervention from medical behavioral specialists and social workers.Reaffirm classroom expectations by modeling professionalism towards peers and all staff members.Maintains autonomy and displays confidence in teaching and addressing behaviors.Deters negative behaviors by using words of encouragement and acknowledging each students' academic and extracurricular achievements.Creates a welcoming environment for learning by using interactive online resources, manipulative, and anchor charts.Plans activities that are specific to each student's abilities.Mentors students in small groups and provide one-to-one instruction.
