Boise State University, located in Treasure Valley, is a public university. The Creative Writing MFA program is a small cohort of students who write, teach, publish, perform, and engage with the literary community.As a professor, I've currently taught Intro to Poetry, fostering over 30 student's engagement, encouragement, and literary foundations. I escalate student concerns appropriately and encourage their daily success.As a student, I'm writing, speaking, reading, performing, publishing, designing, and engaging in the broader literary community in all of these facets.During my time at BSU, I served on the Syllabus Advising Committee for Creative Writing & Poetry.I also assited in the creation, publication, and distribution of Free Poetry. During my time as a bookseller at Barnes & Noble, I excelled at customer service and loved to be a part of building a patient atmosphere. Adept at organization, I was also constantly curious about new process and best practices.

The Cabin’s educational writing and art camps run throughout the summer fostering a love of literacyand literary exploration with students grades three through nine.As a Teaching-Writer, I led two full weeks of camp — for both third and fourth graders and seventh through ninth graders. I designed, planned, and executed lessons to foster artistic creation, production, and, as Kurt Vonnegut requests, the enigmatic act of “becoming.” During this, I also kept my campers safe (and having fun!) during weeks plagued by smoke from forest fires and unusually high temperatures. I was praised for my attempts at comic narrative, poetic structures, visual composition, and overall enthusiam.

Habitat for Humanity’s vision is to provide and improve housing for everyone. The Hastings Family YMCA thrives in promoting youth development, healthy living, and encouraging social responsibility. My three-year internship focused on supporting this mission with a plethora of marketing materials — from flyers to social media digital banners; from urgent events to future campaigns. I designed marketing material content for print posters, banners, and social media posts. I optimized much of the design process flow by converting from Microsoft Publisher to Affinity Designer for typography, graphics, and layout. Furthermore, I navigated creativity within YMCA National brand guidelines while adhering to strict graphic standards and followed creative processes from initial text and idea to print-ready exported file.It was an incredibly rewarding challenge incorporating YMCA National brand guidelines for typography and images into work to be proud of!
