I have extended and maintained a content-capture and sharing platform, which supports an offline-first mobile client application experience, with a cloud backend hosted by AWS, deployed using Serverless Framework, written in Python 3, primarily using DynamoDB for storage, with an AppSync GraphQL API, and client applications written using React.js, React Native, and Typescript. My responsibilities have included feature design and development, managing other software engineers, building a development framework for Typescript packages and applications, which included building and publishing these in CI / CD using Github Actions, and, most recently, acting as a team lead for our core application platform.

I came onboard to setup a testing suite for Satchel's main client-side application written in React and to take over front-end development. I progressed to becoming the maintainer of an event-driven back-end API, written in Node.js using a proprietary event-sourcing library. I designed and implemented an electronic health record system integration microservice in Golang. Then I co-designed and implemented a mobile application written in React Native. I architected and implemented a real time communication websocket server in Golang. I wrote a JavaScript client API for this and configured its infrastructure in AWS using Terraform. I architected and implemented a prototype medical video chat application using the Chrome MediaStream API, Twilio Video, RxJS, React and Redux. This chat integrated media streams coming from digital medical devices, patient intake data, and video. I interviewed and trained two junior developers, onboarding them to this project, which we built to completion. I set up continuous integration for this project using Travis CI and configured its deployment using Terraform.

The epic task was to progressively replace a legacy system. Primarily, I worked on an ETL application to translate data in various formats from clients into the format of Work Institute's database schema. This included building a UI to create the translation map and setting standards for the format of incoming data from clients. I set up continuous integration / continuous deployment of this app to a test server. In production, the application was deployed to a Windows server using IIS. I also recruited, onboarded and mentored a junior developer.

I recently completed NSS's six-month, full-time (and then some) web developer bootcamp. While in the bootcamp, I have integrated the skills required to become a developer into my person and learned the technologies enabling me to be a full-stack web developer.My work at NSS included:- Developing full-stack web and hybrid-mobile applications in a rigorous and fast-paced environment,- Designing and implementing multiple solo and group projects,- Collaborating with peers utilizing technologies such as git and strategies such as pair programming and test-driven development.

As a freelance artist, my work consists of:- Creating original works of two-dimensional art, typically portraiture, using oil paint, charcoal, ink, collage, and mixed media,- Displaying work in individual and group shows,- Negotiating sale and commission of work,- Exploring concepts and researching methods for implementation of future projects, focusing primarily on how to create an environment conducive to sparking a subject's mindful recognition of his or her location in space and fostering his or her enthusiasm for exploring the possibilities for this location actively.

Littlebranch Farm produces specialty rustic woodwork designed by master craftsman Kelly Maxwell. Maxwell designs each piece around the natural shape of the source log or wood slab, improvising with the unique qualities of each piece to reveal its strongest characteristics while providing a practical surface for everyday use.Working as an apprentice to Kelly, my duties included:- Crafting wood slab furniture,- Planning and implementation of collaborative projects,- Organizing and managing workshop procedures, including training and workflow supervision,- Designing and building cabinetry components, lamps, and shipping crates,- Inventorying raw wood slabs, and- Demonstrating principles of entrepreneurship and running a small business.

Open Table is a non-profit, interfaith community that disrupts cycles of poverty, journeys with the marginalized and provides education about issues of homelessness. Alternative staffing agencies provide fair pay, better conditions, and wrap-around services to people who would traditionally find work at predatory staffing agencies. Working for Open Table, my duties included:- Providing strategy recommendations to Open Table for nascent initiative Open Table Staffing, a nonprofit temporary labor agency providing holistic employment opportunities to the homeless and marginalized in Nashville,- Researching practices of non-profit organizations in Nashville, conducting interviews and focus groups with professors, volunteers, staff, and clients of these organizations, and- Concluding by presenting and publishing 225 page guidebook for a Nashville non-profit organization seeking to implement an alternative staffing agency.

Safe Haven is the only shelter-to-housing program of its kind in Middle Tennessee that accepts the entire homeless family, keeping the family together and providing comprehensive services that empower them to achieve lasting self-sufficiency.Working for Safe Haven, my duties included:- Researching best practices of peer overnight-volunteer programs and applying these to create a plan to address Safe Haven's particular needs,- Analyzing work dynamics within my team using leadership, team, and data-driven group studies, and- Presenting 52-page consultation to board of directors and staff
