I am currently a third year medical student at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, and a graduate of the University of North Texas.When I am not in class, I am most likely running in the trails or around town. Participating in athletics for the majority of my life has allowed me to hone my skills in time management, work ethic, and leadership. Additionally, this sport, along with others, has played a role in my aspiration to a career in orthopedic surgery. I would love nothing more than to be able to aid injured people in getting back on their feet.American distance running legend Steve Prefontaine coined the phrase, “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” This statement speaks strongly to me, and it closely represents how I try to live my life. I make it my goal to do the best work I can in order to be the best I can be in whatever I do. Overall, I aspire to be a successful surgeon, to engage with and help people to recover from injury and illness, and to be a strong leader.
