About Caleb Wagner, P.E.

I am an aerospace engineer who investigates aircraft systems for the Office of Aviation Safety at the National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB). Before joining the NTSB, I worked for 11 years as an aerospace and mechanical engineer for the U.S. Air Force, specializing in aircrew safety systems and accident investigation. Most recently, I participated in the USAF's Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program, spending three years with the German Air Force’s Working Group for Technical Investigations in Erding, Germany. Prior to that, I led the Life Sciences Equipment Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, where I conducted engineering investigations of more than 30 aircraft mishaps for USAF Safety Investigation Boards, both in the lab and at accident sites worldwide.I earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cedarville University. I am also a licensed professional engineer. My experience includes failure analysis, ejection seats, parachutes, life support systems, acoustics, air transportability, and airdrop systems.
