An optician is responsible for finding the needs of a prospective customer to best fulfill their given optical prescription provided. Opticians also assume responsibility for troubleshooting glasses orders that have not successfully met the customer’s needs.

Duties included selling prescription eyewear based on patient needs, adjusting ophthalmic frames to fit a patient’s lifestyle, troubleshooting any optical issues found in a patient’s current eyewear, and I operated the facility’s lens edger to produce prescription orders within an hour of purchase.

Prescription eyewear recommendations are made to any customer with a valid optical prescription. While sales skills are used to ensure the patient selects the best ophthalmic eyewear product for their lifestyle and optical needs. Consultants will often perform ophthalmic frame adjustments custom to each customer.
