My employment at Avily was part of my work-based experience for CPUT.During my time at Avily, I was exposed to an Agile environment participating in daily scrums, weekly sprints and frequent project retrospectives. I also learned the importance of collaboration, communication and time management.My roles included the following:- Maintaining existing websites with frequent updates.- Editing and touching up photos for the web.- Assisting lead developers by working on joint projects.- Finishing up websites.- Developing prototypes for new web features.

The Anglican church had a church management system, called MyChurchManagement, and a dedicated development/support team, MyChurchIT, overseeing the project.My roles included:- Maintaining the website.- Refactoring HTML to ASP so that elements can update dynamically.- Assisted with the conversion of text to dynamically translate to multiple languages (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu, Shona).- Aided with creating custom dashboards for sub portals.- Developed a prototype of the current web push notifications on devices using Google Chrome.- Desktop and Technical support for users on the premises.

College of Cape Town was my first experience with online and technical support. We were also tasked with assisting as many students as possible in 1 month, thus we assisted over 50 students daily.My roles included the following:- Assist students with applying for NSFAS bursaries.- Creating NSFAS accounts for first-time applicants.- Creating email accounts for first-time applicants.- Informing applicants about the importance of cyber-security.
