My passion for creative storytelling was born, like many before me, from a discovery and passion for the works of Walt Disney and his artists. I know, it's a cliché, but can you really blame me? Walt Disney's creatives seemed like they could do anything, and it is this seemingly limitless creative capacity that drove me to study Performance, Drawing, Art History, and Set Design in college to become a designer!While at college, I was elected to become the New Member Candidate Coordinator for the Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honor Society, and this job really opened my eyes to something about myself. I had a real passion for telling creative stories with other people and seeing other people reflect on the fruits of their own creative labors. I've always loved helping people, and this was majorly eye opening. I didn't want to be creating alone - I wanted to be doing it with others and helping them achieve their dreams, too! With that mindset, Walt Disney World seemed the only place to go, so off I went!My current role at the Walt Disney Company, Attractions in EPCOT's World Nature area, is my first stepping stone to Imagineering. It allows me a much-desired chance to get hands on with what makes the rides tick and to get up close and personal with the design elements of these rides from both the onstage and hidden parts of them. I finally get the chance to see how the engineering side works with the artistic side!Since joining up at Disney, my work ethic and positivity have been proven successful by promotions to training roles and premium roles like Assignor while still working in EPCOT's Germany Pavilion and by being selected for World Nature Attractions' Safety Committee. I've also been given opportunities to help with creative endeavors within my locations, like creative competitions for the cast (Winner of Best Overall Design for Wreath Decorating) and the design of safety material for distribution to location cast members.Ever since refining my focus on theme park design, I've set the wheels in motion for training in the Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign - to refine a rudimentary knowledge of the three that I already have. I believe that I already have the work ethic, positivity, and reception to feedback to enable personal success in the field, but I am definitely looking to expand my network.
