I began my career at Maywood Park Racetrack as a Customer Service Representative.After a year and a half I was promoted to Marketing & Sales Assistant entrusted withkey responsibilities and a heavy work load.Unfortunately, the business closed. Throughout my 8 years I had many roles, but most important being the Marketing and Sales Assistant. With this role I was tasked tocommunicate with clients, draw up contracts and determine pricing, and help plan andexecute public and private events. I responded to company e-mails regarding privateevents, fundraising opportunities, and live race night contests and giveaways. Withinmy duties was explaining in detail and aiding customers in choosing the correct partypackages from food and beverage to race night perks and incentives. After drawing upthe appropriate contract I was the onsite contact and customer liaison during live racenights.Throughout the Summer season I was in charge of planning, organizing, and executingthe live race night tournaments. This included everything from corn-hole, humanharness racing, and the handicapping wagers. The main key factors I took fromspearheading these events were time management and organization.During the week, I handled miscellaneous office tasks such as answering calls, dataentry, filing, faxing, and making copies. The main skills I gained working here werehow to properly asses and solve customer’s needs, organization, and multi-tasking.
