Community Engagement Pty Ltd is a New Zealand-based social research firm operating mainly in the Australian and New Zealand political spheres. This role involved:- Using research methods such as robo-polling, focus groups, and social surveying to capture and analyse data,- Liaising with clients for end-to-end project delivery including generating polling scripts and report outcomes,- Managing general internal administration including meetings, invoicing and workflow planning,- Hiring, training and supervising focus-group participant recruiters,- Building and website maintenance; and- Working in an agile remote working environment to manage projects and responsibilities.

The University of Melbourne Student Union is responsible for the welfare of a student body numbering over 50,000 students. My position as a paid elected office-bearer involved:- Policy consultancy work, development and advocacy,- Advising students with academic concerns or queries,- Sitting on Academic Misconduct boards, steering committees, Academic Board and working groups,- Coordinating the Student Representative Network,- Maintaining a social media presence across multiple platforms including Mailchimp, Instagram, Facebook and a department website,- Responsibility for a $32,000 budget to be spent throughout the year; and- Improving active engagement. In this position, I achieved a significant increase in active engagement and participation with the office’s networks and events over my one-year term.

The McKell Institute is an Australian based progressive policy think-tank which seeks to find creative practical solutions to current policy problems. My internship involved:- Active research, finding policy solutions and writing policy proposals for a client,- Client liaison skills; and- Organising events such as policy launches and networking functions.

The Australian Council of Trade Unions is the peak body for Australian Unions. It is composed of 38 affiliated unions acting in coalition, often with community groups and other non-government organisations, lobbying and campaigning on primarily industrial policy matters. As a member liaison, I demonstrated:- People skills, diplomacy; and- Effective and positive communication with a wide variety of people, discussing complex policy.
