As a former educator, my efforts lead to being recognized as a national leader in education. Setting educational policy as a governor's appointee to the Florida State Board of Education proved to be an introduction to more global issues in Pre-K through post secondary education. Awards earned for leadership and program development reflected my commitment to personalization, creating quality programs, and serving the under-served. Designing a unique school of choice called, MAST Academy, a maritime and Science Technology High School, that earned the US Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, is a professional highlight. Collaboration with the US Coast Guard leadership team helped create one-of-a-kind experiences for students and their families.As a textile artist, my works traveled in international trunk shows, were juried and exhibited in the US Department of National Parks Program for Climate Change, including an exhibit at the Statue of Liberty. Currently my work is shown at local and national exhibits. Numerous years in the kitchen by my mother's side developed my passion for cooking Italian foods and enjoyment for entertaining family and friends. Enrollment in various cooking classes including a time in Umbria, Italy, excited my curiosity to do business with Italian culinary businesses was I do today. Later, exposure to social and international etiquette programs provided techniques to properly engage with international and national government and business leaders. The combination of food, entertainment, social networking, creativity, and a love for fun lead to the development of Calizo Condiments, a corporation focused on the production and sale of Mediterranean condiments made in small batches with high quality ingredients. Today, my journey follows my passion for food, fun, creativity and social time.
