Management Consulting Field Experience Student Consultant (Clarkston Consulting)

Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, United States

In a group of six students, I was paired with Clarkston Consulting for our Management Consulting Field Experience Course. Throughout the course of the semester, Clarkston tasked us with researching and creating a Supply Chain Resiliency Assessment for its clients to expose areas of improvement for supply chain resiliency. The goal of this project was to help clients build resilient supply chains in the face of disruptions such as extreme weather, geopolitical events, and the COVID-19 Pandemic. We created a Microsoft Excel tool containing nearly 50 questions across four different pillars. The answer to each question qualitatively added to or subtracted from the overall resiliency score of the company's supply chain. Throughout the process I learned:• How to assess and quantify the trade-offs between highly efficient supply chains and those that are flexible to disruptions• Programing in Excel using VLOOKUP, IFNA, IF, Circular references, Macros, and more• Creating a dashboard in Excel to visualize results• Working on a team for a long-term client-focused project

Global Real Estate Intern

Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, United States

During my ten-week internship, I worked on a project for the Global Real Estate Valuations, Analytics, Data, and Reporting team. I was tasked with creating a data extraction framework around which to design an online tool for clients to estimate their prepayment penalties based on language from loan agreements. The project was open-ended at the start of the summer, so one of the biggest challenges was finding a direction and deciding how to move forward at each stopping point. Through this process, I became familiar with natural language processing as I trained a machine learning software to pull information out of loan documents. Throughout the course of this internship, I learned:• How to read, understand, and interpret long and dense loan documents• How to capitalize on machine learning and natural language processing to achieve business goals• Brainstorming and collaboration amongst a small team of professionals• The various prepayment mechanisms required in fixed-rate real estate loans in the United States and across EuropeI am very grateful for my time at Chatham, which, in addition to hard skills, taught me the benefit of giving back and maintaining a positive work culture. With Chatham, I was able to participate in several volunteer activities, including mentoring local high school students and writing letters to children at local hospitals.
