I'm currently part of Armagh Observatory and Planetarium's (AOP) Education team as an Education Officer. AOP has existed since 2016, consisting of a Georgian Observatory and the first planetarium in Ireland. The Planetarium has been engaging the public with the wonders of space since the 1960s.As an Education Officer, I have educated the public on matters of astronomy and science for over 3 years. This includes groups of primary school children, secondary school children, and adult groups from all over our island and beyond.My role also encompasses the following:• Speaking publicly to a wide range of audiences.• Planning and executing external events, both physical and virtual, and in collaboration with partnering organisations. • Designing and publishing content for both social media and larger media outlets.• Creating digital content.• Creating content for museum display.• Representing the organisation as the public face of our Education program for media opportunities.• Assisting in running the day-to-day operations of the Education wing of our organisation, including rotas, staff breaks and diary planning.• Overseeing and editing our astronomy blog, which includes press releases as well as latest research news.
