I was born and raised in New York City and am currently attending the University of Virginia, where I am pursuing a double major in Media Studies and Economics and a minor in Spanish. Growing up in New York instilled in me a deep love of people and culture. I am most passionate about cultural mediums like sports, music, film, and fashion, when they transcend entertainment to bring communities together and invigorate social change. I have refined my creative abilities, specifically writing, video production, and tastemaking through my work experiences and extracurriculars: as a production assistant broadcasting UVA sporting events, interning at indie music label ATO Records, interning with journalist and author Mark Bittman, creating short-form video journalism with the club WUVA, and DJing at 100.1 WXTJ college radio. I am also engaged in the business side of these industries. I aim to use a degree in economics to adapt a next-generation environment for equitably funding media, art, artists, and athletes. Our modern tech landscape has greatly affected how audiences engage with “content” and art. Defending humanity at the core of popular culture is necessary at a time that increasingly rewards the product of digital flattening.
