I moved into a new role within Virgin Media and became a Fibre Optics Engineer in the Midlands. I have gained valuable knowledge within the Fibre Network since starting this role. I have gained valuable knowledge within the Fibre Network since starting this role. This role includes installing and splicing Joints, Fibre trays, ODFs, Hard Splicing and updating SLDs once a job is completed. I carry out jobs for Major Programmes, BAU, H3G, Vodafone, City Fibre etc, and help when required for New Build and Infill. To carry out my daily activities I work predominantly from SLDs/ Job Packs, GCOMMS, Test flow and FAS documents if working on a PIA build. More recently a big part of my job is the Full installation and overseeing of partners for a FTTP new build using PIA. This consists of Splicing in the Headend, POP A and DPs, blowing fibre, Commissioning, and signing off the build as Complete and ensuring the quality is met in alignment with BTs PIA regulations. I will also work alongside Contract Partners to ensure they are meeting deadlines and the quality expected. Additionally, I analyse data and test circuits to ensure the job meets specific thresholds and can be completed. The tests I carry out consist of OTDR/IOLM, OLTS/ILM and CD/PMD testing. Show less

In 2017, I became an Area Field Coach for Virgin Media. The AFC role consisted of coaching a team of inhouse and contracted Residential technicians. My responsibilities were to ensure each technician was hitting and achieving their targets and ensuring they were all technically trained. I would do this by assessing the technicians and build individual coaching plans and programmes, which were then tracked in their reports on progress and improvements. Alongside this, I would also complete Audits and live coaching sessions with the technician. Every quarter this would be presented to the individual and their manager in the form of Feedback Reports. I would also be the main point of contact for any technical issues a technician was unsure about and rectify customer complaints, faulty fibre lines, construction issues etc. This role has further advanced my Leadership skills and my technical knowledge. I began my apprenticeship with Virgin media to become an Access Field Technician in 2012. Shortly after, I had furthered my customer experience, and have gained a strong technical ability in fixing faults, problem solving and working through multiple tasks and under pressure. I am very hard working, committed and motivated to achieve the best.
