I worked at Skechers USA on a part time contract whilst I was at sixth form for 18 months before I left to go to university. I have since returned during the past two summers to work on a more full time basis. This position vastly improved my communication skills and the fact I was invited back is proof that I was a hard working, valued member of the team.

This position started as a work experience placement but then led on to paid summer work. I observed many elements of the Engineering profession in the electrical workshop and the main fabrication workshop as well as getting my hands dirty on both personal projects and projects the company was working on. I learnt some key practical skills such as marking out, drilling, grinding, welding as well as finishing techniques. I was encouraged to work independently as much as possible which has helped me to work upon my own initiative in later employment.
