Line Cook

The Cellar Pub And Grill

Fredericton, New Brunswick

Working as a cook has provided me opportunities to learn many things which will shape my future career. The foremost being the ability to remain calm under pressure and manage time effectively. This allows me to persevere through overwhelming situations while remaining focused on completing orders correctly and efficiently. This is of utmost importance as rework associated with mistakes will cause severe delays in the remaining work and less than satisfied customers. Daily tasks associated with my work includes: prepare and cook food dishes for service, clean and close kitchen for overnights and weekends, maintain fast paced work environment under high pressure situations. Trained and assisted junior employees.

Sep 2014 - Apr 2016

General Laborer

Calgary, Alberta

Working in construction provides the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of people. This helped me learn that I am a motivated hard worker, and also that the work ethic of everyone you meet will vary. By demonstrating a willingness to work hard with a smile on my face no matter the job, I was given the opportunity to manage small crews of laborers. Running these crews provides a new challenge, as each person has different motivations which I had to discover and utilize in order to complete tasks on schedule. Day to day tasks included: maintain cleanliness and order on busy construction site, direct small crews of additional laborers, and deal with unanticipated problems.

Jun 2014 - Aug 2014

Engineering Support

Saint John Energy

Saint John, New Brunswick

Full time summer student for 2012, and 2013. Early in my university education there was still much uncertainty as to my future ambitions. Working for and supporting Professional Engineers helped me realize this would be something for me. It provides opportunities to work in office, designing and coming up with solutions to problems but also allows you to get out of the building and implement solutions, and see how it affects those that will be using your designs everyday. This gives opportunities for continuous learning through valuable feedback from end users, which can be used in future designs. Day to day tasks involved producing and updating standard operating procedures and practices, developing work plans for utility crews. Outside the office I was a frequent member of onsite meetings, and also assisted in tests to commission a new substation.

May 2013 - Sep 2013

Grill Supervisor

Quispamsis, New Brunswick

As my first job in high school, I quickly learned that the key to success was to give it your all everyday, and to go above and beyond what the base requirements are. This notion allowed me to quickly work my way up to a supervisor position in which I was responsible for directing and training junior employees. This paved the way for all my future work endeavors in which I strive to push the limits.Daily tasks include: prepare food for service, maintain clean work environment, direct and train junior employees.
