Situated within the Data Forensic Unit I maintain a portfolio of technical competencies in relation to the acquisition, processing and analysis of data. Over the course of an investigation, I conduct laboratory based digital forensic examinations in line with accreditation and legislation; using information methodically to identify and analyse problems drawing logical conclusions. I am responsible for effective exhibit management, ensuring evidential continuity and integrity; including producing technical documentation in relation to data retrieved. During my time with Devon and Cornwall Police I have played a key role in a number of high-profile investigations, including multiple murder investigations as well as multi-million-pound international fraud investigations. It was my responsibility to thoroughly research proposed security features in order to assure stakeholders of the importance of the changes as well as to ensure minimal disruption to other staff and students.
