About Callum W.

I'm a fifth (of six) year medical student at the University of Glasgow. I have previously completed an intercalated degree in emergency medicine. I have been involved in multiple medical education, quality improvement and research projects which has led to a publication and abstracts at national and international conferences. I’m interested in a clinical academic career with interests in EM, ICU and anaesthetics.Alongside my studies, I am the deputy co-chair and education portfolio lead for the BMA’s medical students committee. In this role, I am the national lead for the education portfolio at an exciting and turbulent time for medical education. My portfolio involves representing students and working with stakeholders on various issues including UKFPO, the specialised foundation programme (SFP), the implementation of the UKMLA and pan-BMA work on medical apprentices and 4-year degrees. As part of this role, I attend regular meetings with key stakeholders including the UK Foundation Programme Office (UKFPO), medical school council and the GMC (General Medical Council) representing all UK medical students on important issues facing us. Outside of medicine, I'm a keen sailor and during my summers I have worked as a sailing instructor at various centres in the UK and abroad in Greece.
