I completed my intercalated BSc based in the emergency department of Manchester Royal Infirmary.During this placement I developed both clinical and academic skills. I developed my history, examination and clinical reasoning skills through clerking patients. Furthermore I developed practical skills e.g. ultrasound guided cannulation. I also developed my academic skills, I attended the weekly journal club developing my critical appraisal skills. I was also involved in academic projects, one of which led to publication in the EMJ. I was involved in quality improvement and ran a QIP relating to analgesia for patients in sickle cell crisis in the emergency department.
