Callum studied a bachelor of Design in Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney and a Masters of Architecture at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is a registered architect (NSW ARB No. 12069) who has a strong interest in community engagement and collaborative design. At DunnHillam, Callum has experience working on a variety of projects across a range of scales including residential alterations and additions, new house constructions, public building design, early childhood education, heritage refurbishment, and master plans. Key projects include the Gunnedah Koala Sanctuary, Ward Oval Pavilion, Killalea Regional Park Precinct Plan, and Copper Ribbon House.Prior to joining DunnHillam, Callum worked for Matt Goodman Architecture Office in Melbourne. During this time, he contributed to a range of residential, public, and large scale commercial projects. Key highlights included a series of pro-bono bushfire rebuild projects situated along the Otway Coast. Callum has spent time abroad assisting communities through collaborative on-site design projects that delivered housing, education and community facilities to developing communities throughout the Asia Pacific region, including Cambodia and Vanuatu. Callum also works as a sessional academic at The University of Sydney.In 2020, Callum was awarded an inaugural Alastair Swayn Foundation Research Grant in support of his project, titled ‘Building community engagement with architectural services in bushfire affected communities’. The research investigates, maps and presents how architects have previously intervened and aided bushfire affected communities. The documentation collates information from community members and architecture professionals to establish links and develop solutions for more effective future architectural intervention.
