Fiji

-Working at the grass roots level of a Fijian charity and at the forefront of international development in the Pacific, focusing on youth, teaching, kindergarten and sports development within rural Fijian communities.-Full responsibility for a team of up to 24 volunteers on a 24 hour a day basis during each expedition.-Directly implement aims on behalf of representatives from the Fijian Ministry of Youth and Sports, The Fijian Ministry of Education, The Fijian Ministry of Health, The National Sports Commission and The Fiji Sports Council.ur a day basis during each expedition.-Facilitating group development and resolving group conflict when required with particular regard tocultural sensitivity and personal health and safety.-Point of contact for both the community and the volunteer team. Liaising with the Project Manager and working closely with the appointed village spokesperson to ensure cultural protocols are abided by and the team makes a sensitive integration into the community.-Liaising with the Project Manager over daily project requirements and meeting with Fijian organisations, Fijian Government officials and agencies as required to ensure aims are implemented.-Managing and accounting for all equipment issued and maintaining expenses records.-Pre-project planning and briefings with Project Manager and Overseas Director to assess and minimise potential issues, regular discussions and meetings with Project Manager on the status of the expedition and assisting to produce a written post expedition report, which is presented to the Fijian Government.-Assisting where required with the transportation of project materials to remote locations and outer islands.

Founded Bula Batiki Coconut Oil, a non-profit social enterprise producing coconut oil on the remote island of Batiki, Fiji, creating a sustainable income for the local villagers. - Created a community-owned organisation to provide an income for 300 people living in Batiki.- Developed well rounded business knowledge, particularly in marketing, communication and logistics, having worked holistically on every aspect of this product to successfully bring it to market. - Enhanced initiative and decision-making skills through directing and managing all 50 families on Batiki Island, choosing packaging sizes and material, as well as organising the logistics of transporting coconut oil from a remote Fijian island to customers around the world.- Advanced my ability to problem-solve, having implemented back-up plans for instances such as shipping containers being delayed, or packaging print faults due to the manufacturer.- Displayed resilience and determination, such as initially being unsuccessful with bursary applications, before adapting plans based on feedback, and later winning £3000 start-up funding.- Implemented multi-channel marketing campaigns, successfully distributing Bula Batiki Coconut Oil from both online markets and in retail health food stores. - Analysis of performance from a financial business perspective within the UK, whilst at the same time ensuring that the wellness of the villagers of Batiki remains paramount.- Managed time effectively to launch the business whilst at university.- Created effective Kickstarter project, raising 159% of required funding.
