As a ski instructor, I had the opportunity to teach clients of diverse ages and abilities. Most clients lacked fluency in English or had very limited language abilities. This required me to rethink my normal approach to teaching. I adapted lessons and overcame the challenge. This also developed my decision-making skills, taking into consideration the variable environment, conditions, clients’ confidence and skiing ability.
