I founded a music management and performance venue in New Brunswick called "The Crypt". Instagram Handle: @the_crypt_nbThe Crypt hosted 38 shows across two years, welcoming an average of 350 guests and 4 bands per evening as its social media presence grew to an Instagram follower count of over 4,500. Overseeing a staff of 6-8, I managed all non-music elements: inventory management, guest intake, venue safety, and social media management. Music ran from 7:30 to 11 pm, typically, with each band receiving a ~45-minute set. Music styles at the Crypt ranged from punk rock to Djing to individual vocalists to R&B and rap. Prior to doors open (normally 7:00 pm), I led a 3 hour prep time in which all spaces were cleaned, needs for bathrooms, basement, and outdoors were stocked, and our staff was adequately briefed on specific changes to that evening.

As Chapter President, I kept the chapter in compliance with school and national standards over two different one-year compliance schedules. Internally, during my tenure, the chapter achieved 31 new members; 14 professional events; and $35,000-40,000 in paid dues annually from $250 biannual dues payments from all members, new and current. In leading my executive team, I distributed those dues into a full operating budget with long-term savings, department funding, and emergency discretionary spending.

As an intern for the State Treasury's Division of Pension and Benefits, I completed 10-12 Excel spreadsheets for the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) Employee Eligibility for 150-250 public employees (TPAF, PERS, PFRS). Over the course of my time there, I processed 300+ Defined Contribution Retirement Program Eligibility Status changes for PERS and TPAF and coordinated with 2 dozen certifying officers to acquire additional or missing personnel information. Toward the end of my internship, I became responsible for handling public employee service credit purchase requests, completing 30-40 for values from $500-8,000. As an intern, in addition to Microsoft Excel proficiency, I regularly used the software Seibel, Empower, EXTRA, and Vanguard software to update personnel records. Lastly, I assisted P&B staff in all DCRP and DCP-related paperwork and projects.

I worked 20-25 hours across 3-day weekend(including Fri.) greeting and serving 100+ customers per shift; maintaining floor and kitchen cleanliness and memorizing 4-5 page menu for customer assistance. This position taught me both the soft skills of greeting and taking care of customers in a brief but hospitable manner, as well as the hard skills of restaurant and service-based business organizations. The experience offered insights into payroll management, shift transitions between workers, and hard-training versus experience-based development for new staff. Beyond the specifics of the work, taking shifts from 5:30 to as late as 2am developed a universal aptitude for hard work, determination, and perseverance in the face of exhaustion, curt interactions, and a generally very fast-paced work environment.
