Policy lead for the using mobile phone whilst driving offence:­Responsible for commissioning a research contract into the effectiveness of the current penalties for this offence measured by the number of drivers using a mobile phone at the wheel. ­ Main point of contact for ministerial and press enquiries.Policy lead for Drink Driving:Responsible for maintaining the strategic relationship between Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme course providers, DVSA, and the Department.­Lead speech writer and subject matter expert on the legislation to better enforce drink and drug driving offence laws during its passage through the House of Commons and House of Lords.National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme:Designed and developed the specification and quality criteria used to compete and award a contract looking into the effectiveness of the scheme since its incorporation.Policy lead for Careless Driving:­Working with the DVLA, DVSA, and Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to develop and deliver a research contract into the effectiveness of this recently introduced offence, investigating the reoffending rates between those accepting and not accepting education courses.
