My career in music started as a pizza delivery driver. I was always passionate about music, I grew up hearing multiple genres of music playing constantly. This gave me a very broad scope of what music was and led me to be very open minded to all forms of musical expression. From 2002 to 2007 , I was delivering pizza for Mazzio's, a chain founded in Tulsa. The manager of the restaurant knew my passion for music, and one day told me to follow him out to his car. He gave me my first turntable , and a crate of records. I soon secured an integrated amp and a cheap pair of speakers to go along with it, and I was off and spinning. I spent every moment I could at my favorite record store Starship Records & Tapes. What started as a passion for music, became my life. In 2007, I began my career at Starship, Tulsa, Ok's oldest independent record store( 50 years). In the time since I have expanded what was our dwindling vinyl record section into a robust and curated experience. Our store is often lauded for being the place with the most eclectic selection and hard to find material. We have everything you could want from the mainstream category, but we specialize in iff the beaten path, harder to find releases. I should mention, we only carry new LP's, no used. More on that later. In 2013, as sales in LP's grew, it became apparent there were little to no places selling hifi gear, especially that didn't cater to only the uber high end. As such I searched for a line of turntables, and after weighing the options, I began to carry Pro-ject Turntables. Fast forward to 10 years later and we now sell full Pro-ject Audio Systems, as well as Music Hall Turntables and a nice selection Sumiko and Audio Technica Cartridges. We are fully invested in helping our customers find the best sound they can afford. We ask probing questions, get to understand your taste in music and use that as guide towards finding your audiophile nirvana. In addition to my job at Starship I sell used records on the side. I have an online storefront on Discogs, seller name Cheech The Hat, a small but well curated selection of titles and workong record shows in the area. I look forward to continuing to grow in my knowledge and expertise with hifi gear, and using that knowledge to benefit my customers, as well as myself.
