Brampton

The responsibilities of this position included day-to-day management of Lines, Forestry and Street Light Maintenance. This position was very similar to my duties as Preventative Maintenance Manager with added focus on the Lines group as a whole. The primary focus at the time I took on this responsibility was to continue building on the departments safety focus by supporting the Loss Prevention program initiatives while improving efficiency to reduce costs.

Brampton

The responsibilities of this position included the day-to-day management of one Line crew, Forestry, Engineering Technician and Streetlight Maintenance. This position required the development of Maintenance programs, which entailed working very closely with Engineering to ensure sound practices were instituted. In particular my responsibilities included preparing budgets, awarding contracts for various maintenance programs, performing safety field audits, ensuring follow-up on various projects.

Brampton

The responsibilities of this position entailed assignment of various tasks to P&C technicians, planning projects, technical analysis of equipment, ensuring staff worked safely and efficiently. This position was an excellent avenue to learn the skills needed to manage staff in a constructive/positive manner.

Darlington Generating Station

This position involved reviewing designs to ensure accuracy, project management, system checkout/commissioning, directing various trades to ensure timetables met and that safety standards were met. This was an extremely interesting project and I enjoyed the experience.

Brampton

We had the contract with Brampton Hydro to perform cross-wattmeter in-service verification.

Brampton

My responsibilities included installation, testing and troubleshooting of scada equipment. In addition I was required to locate underground primary and secondary faults on the distribution system, perform high potential tests, test transformers, test/calibrate relays and investigate customer issues related to power quality. This was a very technical position that required good analytical skills and the ability to work with various trades and customers.

In this position I gained a very sound understanding of Metering systems with a good grounding in safety requirements as a new worker in the electrical industry.
