I have gained a lifetime of maintenance and mechanical experience starting from growing up on a self sustaining farm in Missouri, USA, to joining the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 18 and performed the hydraulic maintenance of military aircraft ground support equipment for 4 years. I have attended and attained many certifications and certificates of achievement for many maintenance trades and skills. I have gained vast experience in managing the maintenance and loss prevention departments of many types of properties from convention, historic, downtown, airport, and resorts. I have experience at being very adaptable and skilled at managing the maintenance and security staff of other cultures and countries as I have worked in Aruba, Jamaica, Culebra, Japan, and Canada. I have also vast experience of opening 6 hotels, numerous major renovations, brand (flag) changes, and ownership changes. I am very honored to be a part of the opening of 3 LEED certified properties. I also take pride in being a part of the property green teams and implementing sustainable practices in all properties that I have worked for. My goal is to the 39+ years of experience that I have gained to assist all Marriott properties that are in need of my Engineering and Loss Prevention managment services. Establishing the local SOPs for the Engineering Department. Directed the building of the maintenance shop as well as organizing the placement of tools, supplies, equipment manuals, as built drawings, etc. Worked closely with the Corporate Engineer, General Contractor, and the sub-contractors to identify and correct the construction deficiencies throughout the hotel to include assisting with the commissioning efforts of all major equipment.Ongoing responsibility to manage all aspects of maintaining this grand 567 room hotel.

We had all trade levels represented to include shift operators, mechanics, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, upholster, wood refinishers, painters, etc. that assist me in maintaining this beautiful historic property. I worked with our senior management team and our owner’s representatives to work out the details of a major renovation to the property. We completed the renovation of 223 guest rooms in 2013. I also served as the Chairman of the Sustainability Team of 20+ members. I was a member and on the Board of Directors of the Hotel Engineers Association of Toronto and served as the Program Director of which I scheduled and arranged all of the training in our organization. -

I became the sustainability champion for the property and acted as the co-chair of the Green Council to bring the hotel to utilize the most sustainable practices possible. I was also the Safety Committee Advisor as well as being a Certified Internal Safety Auditor for the Work Safe BC COR Program. When I left I was in the process of developing and implementing a life safety-training program to keep the entire Westin Bayshore Team as ready as possible for emergency situations. -
